With guest appearances by footie pajamas, spin-top hats, and boy-wonder Justin Bieber, You+Dallas always knows how to throw a good holiday party. We had our first annual holiday party last night complete with a massive buffet of goodies and a white rabbit gift exchange (which explains the footie pajamas).

No boys allowed

Published December 13, 2010 by Laura S

The holidays are a great excuse to eat. A lot. And usually when we’re eating, we like to pair our comfort food with a serious glass of red. So we at You+Dallas decided this holiday season was a chance to celebrate the art of eating, by creating an event for the unique purpose of consuming wine and chocolate. Chocolate genius Stephen Smith of nib chocolates gave us a scrumdiddlyumptious lesson in chocolate making. Oh, and it was ladies only.

We hung white lights and holly for the occasion...

The Wedding Network

Published December 10, 2010 by Laura S

It is not the sequel to anything Jennifer Lopez has starred in. It’s not a made-for-TV movie. It’s not a reality show for TLC or the Entertainment channel. You+Dallas is creating a Wedding Network, coming to a browser near you Spring 2011. Wedding season has come and gone as quickly as the toss of a bouquet, but that doesn’t mean we have stopped thinking about it (our office is full of females, it’s our job to do so).

You+Dallas has had multiple focus groups over the past...

All I want is a box of chocolates

Published December 8, 2010 by Elisabeth Jordan

I believe in the power of chocolate.  Why else would chocolate be the traditional gift to give on the most romantic day of the year?  And any box of chocolates given says to the woman who receives it that they are loved.

So what more could I ask for than to celebrate this holiday season with the fairer sex as we indulge in fine wine and chocolate?  Well, I'm glad you asked because that's precisely what we're doing tomorrow night, right here in our "home" at 2130 Commerce St.

This week, our company has had the pleasure of hosting Robiaun Charles, Director of Development, Division of Diversity and Community Engagement at University of Texas at Austin, and Dr. Angel Royal, Executive Director, UT Outreach Dallas.  While we had a wide ranging discussion on The University's efforts to advance Diversity and its outreach programs, perhaps the most interesting part of those discussions centered around Barbara Smith Conrad.  Barbara's story is now part of a documentary...

Fashion Designer Abi Ferrin

Published November 16, 2010 by Jeff Hinson

Abi Ferrin dropped by our offices last week to visit about her latest project, the 10th Annual Super Bowl Banquet and Fashion Show benefiting St. Judes  Children’s Research Hospital.  This annual event is put on by Off the Field Players Wives Association, an organization consisting of wives of current and former NFL players.  The theme this year is “Women With a Purpose”, so it comes as no surprise that Abi would be chosen to put on the fashion show. ...

Experts In the House

Wednesday of this week, we're having Ad and PR agencies into the office to hear Steve Zipkoff (he’s directly behind the Value Menu for Taco Bell) and Giovanni Gallucci (Social Media expert) talk about the latest in providing client delight and in social media, respectively.

Zipkoff also coined the phrase "We do chicken right" for KFC.  This man is a genius at reaching customers.  Hence the reason he's branded himself as someone who teaches people how to provide customer...

So you’ve learned how to vlog. But do you really remember how?

Published November 10, 2010 by Laura S

To our You+Dallas fans, especially our newly minted vloggers (see told you it was a word)! Thank you for attending our vlogging workshop with our fabulous Hilary Kennedy. She offered some great tips for stellar vlogging last night, so let's recap:

1) Keep a natural tone of voice. High pitched? Take it down a notch (or 4).
2) The camera really does add 10 pounds. Sit up straight!
3) Make sure there is plenty of light in the room so we can see your beautiful face.
4) Speak slowly and clearly. This...

Vlog is a word

Let’s see…a reason to party…a reason to party…what if we invited our bloggers over to Y+D HQ, taught them how to video blog, (see: vlog) and drank wine and consumed hors d’oeuvres? Good idea.

This is what we’re doing tonight. We love our bloggers and the brilliant contributions they make to our website, and now we want to push them a step further: be on camera!

You+Dallas’s Hilary Kennedy will host a vlogger session tonight and provide insightful tips...

In The House: Take 1

Published October 28, 2010 by Laura S

Last night You+Dallas hosted the first event in our  “In The House” series, which takes place at You+Media Headquarters in Downtown Dallas. So what’s the point? Our host, Jack Bradshaw, put it best: “[to] drink some wine and get to know each other.” Ok, wine drinking definitely occurred, but the event was a little more purposeful: we have a cool building in Downtown, we love throwing events, and we want to show people our videos and hear what they have...
